Marijke and Jo-Ann add two more entries!

Even though I was a little too busy to update the Bingo Challenge over Christmas, that didn't stop people from working on their bingo cards!  On December 23rd I got an entry from Marijke H.:
"Attached please find a photo of the pawn shop vignette’s window being repaired; it kind of imploded coming home from the show in October, and this is the first chance I’ve had to work on it."
This repair job takes Marijke up to four entries in our Bingo Challenge.

Giving us all a run for our money, Jo-Ann S. has sent in another entry.  This one fulfills the box of "sculpting and furring a mini animal" and it is absolutely adorable:

Don't forget to check out the label to the right that says "Completed Bingo Cards" if you want to see how many entries we have so far.  Also, remember that if you want to see a larger picture just click on the pictures here and they will open into a larger format.

Happy New Year everybody and keep those projects coming! - Marilyn and Louise

And another two entries tonight!

After yesterday's posts, I received two more entries - both of them for the box that says "Sell a mini you made for more than it cost you to make it".

The first one is from Debbie P.  Debbie had a sales table at the F.A.M.E. Doll and Dollhouse Miniature Show and Sale back in October.  Among the items she sold that day were some of her tiny Russian matryoshka dolls she made.  Here is a picture of a couple of them:
Also filling in the same box on her Bingo card is Jo-Ann S.  Jo-Ann has had sales tables at a few venues this fall.  Here are a couple of pictures from a craft show she took part in a few weeks ago.  Notice the almost empty shelf of her brown pottery.  Apparently one of her buyers who bought several of the brown pieces came back the next day to buy some blue and white ones.  Who doesn't love Jo-Ann's incredible work!?!?

If you check the "Completed Bingo Cards" label in the right-hand column you will see the updated bingo cards.
Note that, up until today, Patricia S. and Jo-Ann S. were tied at 4 entries each.  Today, Jo-Ann is now leading with 5 entries.  How many more will we all have between now and Camp 2017?????  I'm looking forward to finding out! - Marilyn D.

Lots of Bingo entries this month!

Gee, I thought everyone would be too busy with getting ready for Christmas but it's really nice to see that we haven't let these busy times get in the way of our mini fun!  We have several entries to add this time.  Remember to click on "Completed Bingo Cards" in the column on the right to see all of the Bingo cards started so far.
First off, we have Debbie P., from Nova Scotia.  Under the subject of: "My first entry to the Bingo!" she writes:
" Here are my photos of a 1/24 carpet I wove out of sewing thread.  It took me 30 hours approximately."
Nice job Debbie!
We'll be including this project as "create a mini needlework project" although it could be counted as "create a mini in a scale you don't normally work in".

The first Saturday in December, the Fredericton Area club once again took part in the Model Railroaders show and sale.  We had two exhibit tables and a sales table.  As a result of this, Marijke H. and Lynn M. both qualify to cross off the box for "sell a mini you made for more than it cost you to make it".  I have a very blurry shot of Lynn sitting at her sales table where she sold a variety of mini Fimo "candy" - candy apples, candy bouquets, plates of mint candies, and individually wrapped suckers.
I don't have a picture of Marijke at the sales table but I do have one of her products - a beautiful tray of primroses I purchased for my own mini green house.  She also sold several of her hand-stitched cushions, and many other flowers. Here are the primroses I bought.

Next came our annual Christmas party where several of us made our gifts for exchange so qualify for "create/build a mini as a gift".
From Sharon B. - a wonderful selection of tiny hand-made items that were received by Marijke H.:

From Me, Marilyn D. - a Christmas inspired cabinet received by Louise McS.:

From Marijke H. - a beautiful poinsettia received by Lynn M.:

From Lynn M., received by Sharon B., a wonderfully accurate "Baby Groot" from the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy":

and From Louise McS., a "galvinized" cream can received by Marilyn D.:

The last entry for this post is also from me, Marilyn D.  At Camp this year I purchased a little wooden shelf at the Silent Auction.  I had no idea what I was going to do with it but this week inspiration hit as I was decorating for Christmas.  I took a few days to gather my materials and put together an entry for "Create a celebration-themed project (Christmas, Halloween, birthday, anniversary, etc.)". I am showing the finished product here, hanging on my kitchen wall, however, if you want to see how it progressed from raw wood shelf to Christmas decoration, please visit my own blog at charminis.blogspot.ca

So - bear with me now as I have to update all of these Bingo cards.  The updated cards should all be available by this time tomorrow evening as I'm going to bed now and am out Christmas shopping tomorrow morning. *smile* I promise I will get them done tomorrow!! - Marilyn D.

...And Patricia S. has another entry!!!

[Don't forget to click on "Completed Bingo Cards" link in the column on the right to see the most updated bingo cards]

Hello from snowy Ontario,

Here is my newest Bingo contribution...- miniature project to hang on full size Christmas tree.

I researched a way to make 12 scale fluffy sheep ornaments as a little treat for the children I'm working with.

More pictures to follow showing a little sheep on the tree and a flock of lambs all packaged up to be delivered next week.

All the joys of the season, and some full size hugs, Patricia S.

Don't forget to scroll down to other entries you may not have seen since your last visit.  Also - if you wish to see a larger version of the picture, just click on it.   Thanks. - Marilyn & Louise

Blog suggestions from Mary Lou W.

As a person fairly new to the Miniatures hobby, Mary Lou is always looking for ideas, hints and tips to help her along the way.

To complete the bingo square: "Find and read 3 new mini-blogs and share URLs with your  fellow miniaturists", Mary Lou has submitted three that she has stumbled across in her search for more mini knowledge:

1. Tams Minis
2. Life in Miniature by Treefeathers
3. Dollhouse Miniatures.

Although they do not have any recent posts, the information provided within is just as useful and interesting as if it had been posted yesterday.  It's a good idea to check out older, inactive posts from time to time because the wonderful knowledge held within could otherwise get lost altogether.  I know I haven't seen these three before so will be checking them out myself!

I will be keeping an updated list of the linked addresses for submitted blogs as a separate entry to make it easier to see them altogether so, if you wish to check out the links to these suggested sites from Mary Lou, please click on the label "Blog Addresses" in the column on the right.  You will then have a complete list of all submitted in one handy place!

Again, to check out the current bingo card situation, click on the "Completed Bingo Cards" label to the right for that as well.

Thanks Mary Lou. - Marilyn

Blog Addresses

Here we will keep a running list of all blog addresses submitted as part of the 2016/2017 Bingo Challenge.  Let's all do a little research and contribute some entries to help this list grow (and to add one more entry in the Bingo Challenge!)

Bingo Card entries

Rather than repeat a new Bingo card with each post, I have decided to keep all card entries in this one post so they can all be referred to with one click.

Remember, you can always click on the picture to view a larger version.

Here are the entries to date (alphabetically by first name):

More Campers enter the challenge and more entries are added!

We're now two months into the 2016/17 Bingo Challenge and we have other Campers on board and more entries added to existing Bingo cards:

First, we'll get our own stuff out of the way!  Louise McS., Marijke H., and myself, Marilyn D., organized the first ever F.A.M.E. Doll and Dollhouse Miniatures Show and Sale, held October 22nd, 2016 at one of our local church halls.  All of our club members worked on the day of the event and it was a packed house for much of the day.  Overall, after several months of planning, we feel it turned out very well so are willing to count it as "organize a mini event".  Here's a picture of Marijke serving a couple of young customers at the show.  One of these young ladies also participated in the free children's workshop I taught that day but, since I didn't take any pictures, I'll wait until the next children's workshop we do before I count it on my own Bingo card. *smile*

We have three new entries in from Jo-Ann S.  The first is a little poinsettia fairy to hang on her Christmas tree and the second is an adorable Fimo gingerbread house to complete her square of crafting something in Fimo/Sculpey or other sculpting medium.  Both are beautiful and really put me in the mood to start decorating!

The third entry for Jo-Ann, and one we're all so thrilled about on her behalf, is that she just had an article published about her and her work in Miniature Collector Magazine.  This kind of profile should be celebrated and should count on our Bingo card.  with that in mind - stay tuned for a Bingo entry for Kathy N. who also just had something published about her work.  I will have it posted as soon as I re-confirm the details.  Mary W. had an article about her published recently as well but, unfortunately, she was not able to attend this year's Camp Mini Ha Ha so isn't eligible for an entry.  It doesn't make us any less proud of her though!!!!

Mary Lou W. has completed her first square by taking a workshop recently.  On behalf of the "Artists Who Care" program in Oromocto, I taught a workshop, assisted by Marijke H., on building a corner of a pioneer home that could be used to display items participants had made at earlier workshops taught by Marijke.  I am shown here displaying the outdoor version of the project.  All participants chose to do the inside version instead, as the outdoor one was a little more intimidating for these newcomers to the hobby.

In this class, participants learned how to age and distress wood for the "log" walls and how to make stone using the egg carton technique.  In this picture, Mary Lou displays her work in progress as she is almost finished building her walls and will be adding the fireplace she built once everything is dried.

And last but not least, Tracey R. has completed her first square by posting a tutorial on making miniature bacon slices using FIMO.

You can find the tutorial on her blog at:

For the updated Bingo cards, please refer to the links in the right-hand column.

So - the rest of us need to get caught up with some of these busy folks.  Remember, for each box that gets completed, the Camper gets their name in the prize draw one time.  Fill out your full card and you will have 25 entries in the draw!  Good luck everybody! - Marilyn and Louise

Lynn M. has entered the challenge!

With fall in the air and Halloween still visible in our rear-view mirrors, Lynn M. has tried her hand at working in Fimo.  She created the cutest little candy apples as her first entry into the Camp Mini Ha Ha Bingo Challenge.

They look great, Lynn.  You now have your name entered once in the Bingo Challenge.

Here is Lynn's Bingo card.  You'll find it here as each square gets checked off.

Time for the rest of us to catch up!  We're looking forward to seeing everyone's entries!

Another box checked off!

Well Campers - Patricia S. is really getting into this Bingo Card Challenge.  With this latest entry she now has her name in the draw 3 times.

This time she is checking off the box that says to "create/build a mini as a gift".  In Patricia's words:

"This fairy, different from the one in my Thanksgiving arrangement, became a birthday fairy for my friend Jill. "

In this next photo you can see the little bench she made for the fairy to sit on.  The last picture shows Patricia on her way to meet up with her friend and give her this hand-made birthday gift.

Remember - we all stand a chance to win - even if we only check off one box to share with the group.  We will have our name entered once for every box we complete so - for the real keeners - there is a chance your name could be in the draw as many as 25 times.  However - like the lottery - you can't win if you don't "buy a ticket" or, in our case, complete a task and enter it in the Challenge!

Here is Patricia's updated Bingo Card.

Congratulations Patricia and good luck everyone!!  Let's all get mini-ing!

Another Bingo entry received!

I received an email from Jo-Ann S. this morning.  The email ended with the following:

"I am including my entry into the Bingo contest.  BTW, I like the rule change because that thought had occurred to me too.  This isn't strictly "furniture" but it is a kit and I just completed it yesterday."

So - welcome Jo-Ann to the competition!  If you're wondering what she is referring to with the rule change just scroll down or choose "Rules" from the labels in the column to the right.

Here are her pictures, followed by her Bingo card:

Great looking stove you've got there, Jo-Ann!  You now have your name entered once for the Bingo prize draw at Camp next year.  How many entries can we all have before Camp?  One entry for every box we complete! Mini-on and have fun!!!

Rule change for Camp Bingo!!

Okay - we're early enough in the process that I thought it would be okay to implement a rule change to make the Bingo Challenge fun for everybody.

It has occurred to me that some people might be discouraged from participating because they think they would only be able to complete a few squares and they're pretty certain there will be a few who will complete the whole thing so why bother even trying?

So - to make it fun for everyone, instead of the winner necessarily being the one with the most squares completed, for every square that gets completed the Camper will get their name in the draw one time.

The potential is that those who complete the whole Bingo Card will have their name in the draw 25 times (because the free square will also come into play).  This may dramatically increase your odds of winning but not necessarily guarantee it.

If you are only able to complete one square at least you will have your name in the draw once - your odds will be less but you'd still stand a chance.

So - now that a win is possible for any Camper who enters - let's all start mini-ing!!!

Our first Entry in the Bingo Challenge!!

Congratulations to Patricia for being the first to enter the Camp Bingo challenge!

Patricia completed the box that said to "Repair one broken or neglected item".  She shared her before and after pics of an old chair she had set aside ages ago because it needed to be repaired.

So - the challenge has begun.

Then, just to keep us one our toes, Patricia followed this up with her email of October 12th:

"Hello, Marilyn and Louise,
After our brief introduction to those adorable fairies at Camp I was very motivated to hunt down all the bits and pieces to create one myself.
With Thanksgiving around the corner, I created a Thanksgiving Fairy Garden for her to live in.
It was our son Ferenc reading the Mini Bingo card on my fridge that suggested it should count as 'celebration themed project'."

And so it should Patricia!  It makes a lovely Thanksgiving-themed vignette.  Here are some of her pictures followed by her updated Bingo card:

So everyone - the challenge is definitely on and Patricia has beat us to the punch.  Time for us all to get mini-ing!!!!  Have fun everyone.
